Education/Entertainmment/Culture
Area colleges include Missouri State (campuses in Joplin and Springfield), Evangel University, Drury University, Ozarks Technical Community College, Mission University, and Cox College.
Entertainment is dominated by the venues located in and around Branson and include Silver Dollar City amusement park, Table Rock Lake, several museums, a scenic railway, and a large number of music theaters. Saint Joseph Missouri is the home to Missouri Theater and the Gillioz Theatre is in Springfield.
Because of the Ozark's history as a gateway for Westward migration and the subsequent waves of migration into the area from other states and other countries, the wide mixture of cultures is obvious. From the variety of music broadcast on the area's radio stations, to the variety of the area's food scene and the cultural/ethnic festivals, our cultural environment is very diverse. For example, America's largest international festival is held at Silver Dollar City in the Spring.
